_  The Solo Solution solo boost pedal is a foot switchable master volume pedal,not any type of pre amp or distortion box. It is constructed of a 25k volume pot, used to dial in your desired rhythm volume, a true bypass footswitch, in and output jacks,and a single led light powered by a 9v battery which is lit when "solo" function is enabled enclosed in a high quality die cast box. The Solo Solution is designed to work with a serial effects loop, it is not meant to be put in front of an amp. Like other "boost" pedals, this one does NOT add gain or color your tone in ANY way, it just gives you the same tone/gain you have just louder. You have full control of how much louder you want your "solo" volume to be by first dialing in your rhythm volume.  I use this pedal every weekend with my band and would never gig without it.
